Get to know your Interior Designer

Tyece Pool

Did you know BSPARK also offers Interior Design Services? Today I sat down and talked with Tyece Pool, our interior designer here at BSPARK Architecture. We chatted about how she got her start in Interior Design, and the importance of considering all design aspects including interiors when developing a space. Tyece is involved with most of our projects, and is also available for Interior only sessions if you want help on a project that does not involve a full architectural remodel or build.

How long have you been an Interior Designer?

I started my education for Interior Design in 2014 and got my first internship in 2015. It has been almost 10 years!

How long have you been with BSPARK?

Coming up on two years in December.

Why did you choose Interior Design?

Interior Design was appealing to me as a career simply for the impact it can have on any and all types of space. The field sometimes has a reputation for being “high end” and glamorous, accessible only by celebrities and otherwise. It’s my belief that every space can be enhanced with the involvement of an Interior Designer. Design to me is more about accommodating for that human factor and really getting into the specifics of function. I really enjoy diving into the specifics and finer details that can really make a space work well.

What do you think is the most important thing for someone to consider when choosing a firm to work with?

I think it is important to find a firm with similar values to your own. There are a lot of firms out there, which also means that there are many different approaches, goals and values within these firms. Finding an architecture/interior design team to work with that has aligned priorities with your own is so important to a successful project. Here at BSPARK we are focused on our four main values: Health, Clarity, Accountability and Excellence.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

There are a few things that stand out to me. Watching the project evolve from a few sketches - bubble diagrams to a plan set to a built environment is always an incredible experience. Seeing your ideas and intentions get built and used. I also really enjoy the whole community that Architecture creates and the network of people that comes with it. From our consultants, contractors, product reps, and trades people to our clients, I truly enjoy building relationships within our field and our projects.

What is your favorite season and why?

I really can’t choose just one, I love them all for a variety of reasons, and am always excited when it is time for a new one. I do really enjoy fall. When it is starting to cool off and you get to start enjoying the coziness of the season, although it is still warm enough to enjoy being outside most days as well.
